HELLLLOOOO Skating Fans! We are one month closer to a new season beginning. Here’s the latest information I have to share to keep you going in the meantime.
New Programs Ashley Wagner shared a sneak peek of her new samba program, choreographed by Shaelynn Bourne. I’ve heard rumblings that she’s reusing Moulin Rouge also, but I have no confirmation on that. Love the idea of this samba for her, though. Also in the rumor mill, I hear Gracie Gold is skating to Firebird and a tango. About time that girl had some music with substance to it. It will be very interesting to see Gracie and Ashley both do Latin music. ALSO- Gracie shared a video of her attempting a 3A in a harness at practice… the plot thickens. A rough skate through of Jason Brown’s new free program from the Broadmoor Open. What a beautiful program this could be. Check out this video of Adelina Sotnikova from Artistry on Ice. This is the music we saw her performing to at the Russian test skates early last season. The jumps look rough, but she’s obviously got time before the season begins to work on that. Kavaguti/Smirnoff’s new SP. Liza Tuktamysheva’s new long program. I’m not a fan now, but time will tell. Sean Rabbit Han Yan A clip from Julia Lipnitskya’s training. No jumps in the video.. I’d be very interested to see how her technique is coming along. Rika Hongo Daisuke Murakami Yvgeny Plushenko I like the music a lot, but this doesn’t give you a good indication of where his jumps are at. He does look slower than the old days, though. Mao Asada announced her new programs: Short: Bei Mir Bistu Shein, Free: Madama Butterfly, Exhibition: Puttin' on the Ritz. Cheng Peng and Hao Zhang will skate to "Je Crois Entendre Encore" from The Pearl Fishers by Bizet" for their new FP! Early Season Competitions The Japan Open (October 3rd) roster is looking VERY interesting in the ladies field- with Mao Asada and Satoko Miyahara representing Japan; Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold representing the US, and Adelina Sotnikova on Team Europe. There is one more ladies competitor from Europe to be announced. The only men’s competitor announced already is Javier Fernandez. What a good lineup! The Grand Prix event schedules have been posted. Scroll through the pages to the event schedule and start planning your naps now! Here is a time zone converter for you. (Skate America’s announcement isn’t officially posted with ISU yet, but the website has it posted.) SC COC TEB RC NHK Other news British Ice Dance champs Smart/Buckland have split. I’ll be back with more updates as I have them : )
